CHURCH OF THE MADONNA OF THE MIRACLES

The ancient sanctuary of the Madonna of the Miracles is located within walking distance of the Basilica of Saint Flaviano.  The first information of the church dates back to 1333, the year in which the community of Montefiascone started building a hospital that was connected to it.  In 1465 the church belonged to the Servite order  and in 1492, the old and tattered church was rebuilt with the help of the community.

CHURCH OF SAN PIETRO

A single nave, the current appearance of the interior is the result of the work of renovations that have affected the building, starting from 1719. Two alters with plaster decorations distinguish the side walls, one on the right houses a painting depicting San Giuseppe con Gesù Bambino e Santi  and, to the left, a Madonna con Bambino e Santi. There is a magnificent central altar that dates to the same time, which is adorned with a painting depicting La Madonna in gloria e Santi.

CHURCH (Basilica) OF SAN FLAVIANO

The current church of San Flaviano, formed from two overlapping rooms, started being built in the eleventh century to replace an earlier building. In 1032 the small church of Santa Maria, now ruined, was completely reconstructed and dedicated to the martyr Flaviano. A headstone, now mounted on the counterfacade, gives us information about the event and attributed credit to the fervor of the people of Montefiascone and to the generosity of a certain person named Lando.

CHURCH OF SAN GIUSEPPE

The church of San Giuseppe, located in Le Mosse in Montefiascone, was built under the impulse given by the Bishop of Montefiascone Giovanni Rosi, on 02.02.1928 to erect the Parish of San Giuseppe alle Mosse. Immediately afterwards, in the years 1929-30, the construction of the church was started based on a design by the architect Codini di Montefiascone.

CHURCH OF MADONNA DEL GIGLIO

The church stands in the hamlet of Zepponami and was built around 1854 to replace the small church which was located in the neighborhood Lily Vecchio, through the will of the Capuchin friars of Montefiascone and some residents.

THE CHURCH OF MADONNA DELLA VITTORIA

The church, although dedicated to Santa Felicita martyr in September 1, 1591, is now known as the Church of Madonna della Vittoria. Built in the second half of the sixteenth century at the same time to the convent, he has suffered the same ups and downs.

CHURCH OF THE BODY OF THE LORD (Corpus Domini)

The church is located 100 kilometers from the tomb of Peter and was built between 1921 and 1924 by the architect Tullio Passarelli (Rome 1969-1941) who was a pupil of G. Koch and a member of Roman eclecticism. The opening of the new Church of the Body of the Lord near Cassia Street in Le Coste in Montefiascone led to the closure of the nearby ancient rural church of San Pancrazio (the oldest church in Montefiascone), which is now smaller and more difficult to reach.

Montefiascone | Cripta di Santa Lucia Filippini

CRYPT OF SANTA LUCIA FILIPPINI

On the back of the church of Santa Margherita, a portal with a typically fourteenth-century pointed arch allows entry to the crypt, which has a very severe architectural layout. A series of eight round arches enclose the central circular space dominated by the high altar, laterally decorated with two marble high-reliefs by the sculptor Dante Ruffini portraying, the one on the right, Saint Lucia Filippini educating young people, the other Cardinal Barbarigo who hands the crucifix to the Saint. The body of Saint Lucia Filippini is kept in the tomb below the altar.

Chiesa di San Pancrazio in Nucerino

CHURCH OF SAN PANCRAZIO IN NUCERINO

The oldest relevant information of the small church dates from the middle of the 9th century, when Pope Leon IV mentioned the place and its significant assets in an honor directed to Virobono, the bishop of Tuscany. The Parish Church of San Pietro and its dependencies, one of which is the ecclesiam S. Pancratii in Nocerino, were located in the area of Montefiascone.

Montefiascone | Chiesa di Santa Maria della Neve o Santa Maria in Castello

CHURCH OF SANTA MARIA DELLA NEVE

The original name of this church was Santa Maria in Castello due to it’s close proximity to the Castle of the Rocca, and was commissioned by Pope Innocent III in the early 13th century in relation to his recovery of different territories that were not permanently controlled by the church.
