PIAZZALE DEL BELVEDERE
HISTORY AND DESCRIPTION
Piazzale del Belvedere, wide and tree-lined, was reset around the middle of the 20th century, and is a must see destination for every tourist who wants to admire the appealing panorama of Lake Bolsena. Between Montefiascone and the lake, for a distance of about 3 km, the hill slopes downwards toward the Perlata Valley, the bottom crater cultivated with olive trees and especially grapevines. From there, the blue mirror of the lake, along with the two islands, Martana and Bisentina, you can see in the distance a glimpse, from North to South, Mount Cetona, the Rock of Radicofani, and the Mount Amiata. On the shoulder of the overlook, is the opening of Porta Borgheriglia, which allows access to the highest part of the city.
